What Cause High Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR)?
(1/1)
Mandeq:
A patient had a RENAL PROFILE blood test , and it showed increase of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) far away then the normal range , can some one tell me what are the causes? If the risks include (diabetes or High blood pressure?
Kind regards Maandeq
Diagnostic:
GFR can increase due to Hypoproteinemia because of the reduction in plasma oncotic pressure.
GFR can also increase due to constriction of the efferent arteriole due to High blood pressure.
GFR regulation depends on the person's age, sex & physiological status as pregnancy increase dramatically the GFR.
Mandeq:
Thnx for you answer , I well appreciated
Emmakarin:
Hi,
A little question, why is acute and chronic renal failure always associated with low GFR when I can see that there are cases with high GFR such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and physiological cases e.g pregnancy?
Kind regards,
Em
