If you are qualified Somali National and looking for a chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable Somali children while gaining opportunities for career growth, you are invited to apply for the above posts of Nutrition Officer, with UNICEF Somalia, Central South zone office to be based in Wajid, Mogadishu, Galkayo.
If successful, you’ll be part of a dynamic and passionate team in Somalia and Nairobi that works together to improve the health, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene, and basic education of Somali girls and boys and protect them from violence, exploitation and abuse.

The successful candidate will be offered a Fixed Term Appointment for one year. Further extensions will be based on organizational needs, availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

Purpose of the Post:
Under close supervision of the Nutrition Specialist, contribute to programme planning, administration, implementation and evaluation of programme/project activities, data analysis and progress reporting.

Major duties and responsibilities:

1. Support the acute malnutrition management activities through identification of partners, input to new Partnership Cooperation Agreements (PCAs), training of partners and supportive supervisory missions to ensure the Stabilization Centre (SC), Outpatient Therapeutic Care Programme (OTP) and Supplementary Feeding Programme (SFP) are operational and offering an integrated package of nutrition services where possible.

2. Undertake ongoing field visits to UNICEF project sites to ensure comprehensive understanding of project activities and local conditions. Prepare routine reports on results of visits and the project’s progress.

3. Collect and assemble data and background relating to programmes/projects and provides updated information on programme/project financial and administrative status for analysis and report purposes. Analyze programme/project status including financial aspect and recommends appropriate adjustments.

4. Participate in Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU)-led nutrition surveys, therapeutic feeding coverage survey and any other nutrition related assessments as team leader and co-facilitator in trainings on request. Participate in Health and Nutrition coordination meetings and Nutrition Cluster meetings to review activities, advice on achievements and constraints as well as participate in UNICEF internal planning and reviews.

5. Monitor the flow of supply and non-supply assistance to the partners. Drafts supply and financial documentation. Collect and record information on supply/non-supply inventory, distribution and utilization.

6. Communicate with local authority counterparts on project details. Recommend course of action to supervisor. Make arrangements for joint visits to project sites with partners and provides information and briefing on project activities and status.

7. Draft weekly Situation Reports (SITREPs), monthly reports and other documents and other reports for ACSD manager.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
• University degree in nutrition, public health, social sciences or related technical field
• Two years experience one of which must be in practical, professional work experience in project administration, including research and data analysis.
• Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is required.
• Fluency in English required both oral and written
• Knowledge of global human rights issues, specifically relating to children and women.
• Communication, analytical and training skills.
• Good knowledge of computer management and applications.
