In Somalia, Your Resource Limits Your Practice!
« on: September 30, 2007, 03:05:34 AM »
I open this thread for all those doctors practicing their career in Home.
Most of the hosbitals in somalia, accepts or treats certain diseases while most of the chronic or difficult cases are left outside!.
As a doctor leaving in somalia, I always face cases which you can't do nothing for them!!
 :( It's really sad.
Did you think one day " How we can we widen our resources and attract all necessary experts to practice normaly?"
wallahi it's Sad!!
Young beutiful somali girl with mitral regurgitation?!
Other boy with Hydrocephalus?!
Most of those children are poor, they can't seek medication outside the country!
That's why you see pics displayed in somali news sites saying: " Help this poor girl/boy?"

Really we live in a country you should check your pocket first before you go any where!

Although I am not practicing @ home, but I can suggest alternative ways to deal with these difficult conditions in Somalia.
Why there is no special organization for this purpose, I mean this organization may take these childrens out of Somalia to nearest and cheapest place where they can get enough medication.
There is a lot of humanitarian organizations working in Somalia, one building hospitals, one digging wells, one building mosques and other provides food and medication.
It's easy to build such organization if Somalis in diaspora think well about this issue.

Asalamu calaykum.

I have a question to our brother practising in Somalia. I would to know how the situation is regarding access to equipment? Do you have our basic needs meet? If not, what do you need to perfom basic treatments? Which supplies are availeble to you in Somalia ?

Regards

M.A.G

Dear M.A.G,
The basic needs are available in some hospitals especially those run by international organizations, but they are always runnig out of resources and should be re-filled frequently.
The list of what you can find in most hospitals in somalia will be posted later!

I don't think the problem mainly depends on the resources, equipments and medical products.
In Somalia you can find most of these tools, if you don't find in a hospital sure you will find in another.
I believe the problem we have is deficiency in personnel experience those who can use these tools effectively.
Those who can do difficult and complicated operations.
We need an experienced doctors which can be trusted!.
