Duty stations: Gedo region Somalia.
Starting date: 1st of January 2011
Duration of the contract: 6 month / with a possibility of extension.

Human development concern abbreviated as (HDC) is humanitarian, nonprofits organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through primary health care, relief and development programs. Established in 2005 by volunteer health professional, the organization its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities of Somalia. By providing training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, especially, HDC answered to curb devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance. HDC acquired experience and expertise in field of access PHC. In the Gedo region Somalia HDC is currently implementing integrated prevention treatments care and support (HIV -IPTCS) –PMTCT funding GFTAM/ PR UNICEF.

Objectives
-The objective of the Human development concern (HDC) is to assist Somali people in strengthening the health sector contribution to achieving Universal Access to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care. and effective organization and implementation of comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, support and treatment programmes, maternal and child survivors programme to achieve save delivery strategy

-Human development concern is seeking a Medical Doctor to work in Maternal hospital in a town in the southwest region of Somalia (Bardera ). This is a very populated town that is no medical doctor currently working in the district .So that we highly apricated for the first applicants intrested this post . This town is proximately 200 km from the Baidabo and 190 km from the boarder of kenya . the the locals medics are friendly and welcoming.

Scope:
The Medical Doctor will act as an advisor to the hospital staffs who are responsible for the provision of health care at the hospital. He/she will also assist in the management and planning of the clinical work in the hospital. The doctor will also visit other areas in the projects such as outreach and Bulahawa MCH if there is an emergency situation that requires medical attention.

Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and providing general care to patients on hospital wards
- To assess the need for medicines and medical materials in the hospital collaboration with the local healh provider , and the pharmacist.
- Liaising with other medical and non-medical staff in the hospital to ensure quality treatment. Ensuring to priscribes ARVs for HIV postive pregnant .

Key responsibilities:
The Medical Doctor main responsibilities include:
-To perform emergency surgery/ceaserian sections.
-To provide curative care at HDC facilities in gedo region.
-To make general ward rounds.
-Trains the health workers withinn in thee organizations and faciltates seminars ralated health .
-Counseling and treatments for the chronical ill patients

Requirements:
- Current registration/license with relevant professional body as a medical doctor/general practitioner
- A minimum of 2 years post medical registration work experience
- Experience in Public Health, obstetrics, and gynecology
- understand the situation of the region is an added advantages .
