REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Advanced university degree in a discipline relevant to the areas of Public Health, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Sanitation Engineering, or anyway related to WASH development assistance

- 2 to 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience with NGOs, INGOs and/or UN agencies, governmental agencies or the private sector
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in Eastern and Horn of Africa emergency countries, affected by natural or humanitarian emergencies (Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania)
- Previous experience in Conflict and Post-Conflict environment
- Fluency in English

Candidates must be based within the region

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES
Previous experience with UNICEF, UNHCR or ECHO funded project
- Knowledge or working experience in environmental issues and climate change
- Previous experiences of SWM in emergency context
- Previous experiences of Water intervention/actions (Boreholes, water catchment, Etc...)
- Previous experiences of Sanitation in emergency context (IDPs/refugees camps, returnees)
- Previous experiences of Hygiene Promotion

WORK CONTEXT
This announcement aims at attracting suitable candidates to be included in Cesvi's roster of WASH specialists.
The roster is for candidates to be deployed to countries in emergencies in the region on short-term assignments. Candidates with suitable emergency profiles will be placed on the Cesvi Regional roster to be considered for short-term assignments in the East African region.
Candidates on the roster will be contacted on a yearly basis for an update of their profiles.
Candidates will be expected to be able to deploy within 2 weeks from confirming their interest and availability upon being contacted by Cesvi for an assignment.
Candidates will normally be deployed for assignments between 1 and 6 months on short contracts.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Contracted specialists may be assigned the primary, shared, or contributory responsibility for the following areas of duty and the results specified in their contracts:
- Programme development
Planning of assessments and development of concept notes and project proposals
- Programme implementation and management
Implementation of assigned project/sectoral activities, in compliance with defined project strategies and approaches
- Programme monitoring and evaluation (M&E)
Carrying out of a rigorous and transparent approach to evaluation, with drafting of and participation in monitoring exercises and programme reviews
- Technical support
Assisting with specialistic aspects and individual actions as required by existing projects/programmes
