The international humanitarian organization Medecins Sans Frontieres - France / Doctors Without Borders is seeking for its programs in Kenya, the following positions;

Pharmacist

Ref No: 1125

Main Objective of Position
*Responsible of pharmacy activities in Kenya and Somalia missions.
*Ensure management of pharmacy
*Guarantee proper implementation of protocols and quality of pharmacy management.
*Support field teams in management of the pharmacy
*Functional and Hierarchical Lines
*Hierarchically and functionally responsible to the Medical Coordinator Kenya
*Under supervision of the Deputy Kenya
*Working with MedCo Somalia, when it is required
*Responsibilities and Tasks

Pharmacy Management
*Responsible to prepare and sign importation processes and following procedures with poison board in Kenya.
*Follow up – in close collaboration with logistics department- the documentation processes for Kenya and Somalia Missions
*Organized management of the pharmacy: in/out; inventory, expired dates, etc. according to MSF guidelines for Kenya and Somalia missions.
*Ensures regular inventories for drugs and material.
*Manage efficiently stocks, avoid overstocks and stock ruptures.
*Help MedCo and Deputy Medco in the preparation of medical orders ( locally and internationals)
*Follow up supply of medical orders in close collaboration with logistics department.
*Check quality of all medical supplies before delivery to the field.
*Give support to the project in terms of pharmacy management, supplies, etc.
*Organises and implements trainings of pharmacy staff in order to reinforce skills in terms of management of the pharmacy
*Follow up loans and donations ( between the projects and with others MSF)
*Management of EPREP stock
*Regular update first aid boxes in the cars, expat houses and emergency boxes.
*Isystock: ( Under close supervision of MedCo and Deputy Medco, after receiving training)
*Responsible of the data entry ( under supervision of Deputy MedCo)
*Regular update of isystock: project and capital
*Monthly report
*Carry out training for the national staff in Kenya and Somalia on Isystock
*Dispose all expired medicines according to MSF safety standards and waste management protocols and National legislation when existing, in cooperation with project logistic manager.
*Reporting
*Ensure that pharmacy stock cards and inventories card are recorded correctly and followed up.
*Reports regularly to Medical Coordinator on pharmacy situation (drugs expiring, consumption, prevention of shortages, etc.
*Participates in the monthly reports according to guidelines (SitReps, medical statistical reports, etc)
*Informs other medical managers or doctors about any possible serious problem or complication, ex. destroyed or close to expire drugs, etc.
*Reports on drug consumption (total number, types, drugs given to patients, transferred to other pharmacies…).
*Inform medical coordinator of any problems related to equipment or material (ex. broken, missing).
*Defines and updates job descriptions of pharmacy staff.
*Emergencies
*Participates in emergency intervention, if it is needed.
*Assist in preparation of emergency orders in close collaboration with the medical team.
*Others
*Ensure that all hygiene and security procedures are followed in project pharmacies.
*Participate in meetings with other managers in order to ensure smooth collaboration of all departments in terms of activities running.
*Requirements

Education: Degree in Pharmacy / Compulsory: registration in Pharmacy board Kenya

Languages: English and Somali

Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel and Internet)

Mobility: Position 50 % based in NBO + 50 % on the field

Experience:
Essential working experience of at least two years as pharmacist
Desirable working experience with MSF or other NGOs
Desirable working experience in developing countries
