Nutrition Coordinator - Nairobi, Kenya (GIZ)

SUMMARY: This position exists under the Health and Nutrition sub-project. The overall objective is to provide safe, effective and Nutrition services, targeting the most important causes of Malnutrition and death among the refugee population. This position exists to ensure smooth running of the camps and efficient services of the same at Dadaab, Ifo Camp.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for management of day to day operations and efficient coordination of nutrition sector activities in three refugee camp hospitals including:

•Provide technical guidance to the supplementary and therapeutic feeding programmes •Lead and supervise team of staff providing nutrition support services in the hospital based therapeutic feeding centres and the outreach based supplementary feeding centres •Prepare monthly performance indicator reports on the nutrition sector, whilst ensuring continuous monitoring of trends in admissions to guide programme and stakeholder decisions for timely interventions on malnutrition •Plan and coordinate community based nutrition education forums •Plan and coordinate Annual nutrition surveys •Plan and coordinate quarterly coverage survey of targeted feeding program •Plan and coordinate MUAC surveys and Vitamin A supplementation campaigns •Train and build capacity of community health workers, nutrition programme, and other sector related staff on nutrition •Manage the supply chain of food and nutrition related commodities to the three camp hospitals for in patient feeding •Monitor the distribution of supplementary food provided by WFP at health posts and hospital day-care centres, and prepare comprehensive bi-monthly reports on consumption, whilst ensuring compliance with WFP guidelines •Represent the organization in sector related inter agency coordination meetings with other stakeholders such as UNHCR, World Food Programme and CARE International

QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Bachelor Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics 2.At Least two years’ experience in management of a complex and multifaceted nutrition program 3.Training in SMART,LQAS,CSAS Survey methodologies 4.Must be a TOT 5.Ability to manage teams 6.Excellent report writing and computer skills and statistical packages
