Question to Dentists?!

hey how is every one
this year iam doing PROSTHODONTICS
its like hell

specially today
i just wanted to know did all dentists have to go through this
or its only me who cannot adapt with it

and how did you pass it

is there any notes
or books which helped you through it

It's a shame no one has taken this topic on.

Prosth is NOT easy. In general, prosthodontists get the cases GPs can't handle. Many cases involve establishing or creating a bite that is not obvious, or is different, from the presenting situation.

Difficulties arise in establishing the vertical dimension and excursive movements, which is critical, and for which no recording system has proven to be entirely accurate.

Most dental schools in the US have abandoned teaching full dentures for the simple reason  results are insufficiently predictable and require too much chair time to be profitable at the DDS level. The move is incomplete, but there is a clear movement towards the licensing of "denturists", clinical technicians who are willing to work for less money, in this area.

Where prosthodontists hold there own is in large scale and mixed technique restorations; for example, combining partial dentures or implants with crown and bridge in full-mouth rehabilitations. We are talking considerable preparation and recording dificulty here.

Have you gotten to fully adjustable articulators yet?

We r doing the preclinical now so idont  have to worry about the cases

Not everyone has to end up a prosthodontist. On the other hand, with enough experience, you are going to find that the proceedures become intuitive, going to the hands almost without ever going through the brain.

There is a learning curve to every body of data and every new material and technique. I am the perfect klutz myself for at least the first several cases with a new material kit. Don't let it get to you.
