DURATION: 6 months renewable

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

2 years experience as qualified social worker or response practitioner Further 2 years experience working with a National or an International NGO in a managerial role Experience in managing finances Experience of report writing Experience in capacity building, training and in using participatory learning activities as a facilitator Diplomatic and effective communicator at all levels Willingness to travel to remote areas of Somalia Very enthusiastic and able to work long hours to achieve the objectives of the programme Ability to work in an international or multicultural environment Fluency in Somali language (written and spoken) Fluency in English (written and spoken) Good IT skills (an excellent use of excel is necessary)

WORK CONTEXT

CESVI is currently implementing a Child Protection Program in Somaliland, Puntland and South Central Somalia. The program: - works with the community to provide appropriate support services for children survivors of abuse through training and strengthening of referral mechanisms - uses participatory methodology within the community to create awareness messages and peer education groups to promote behavior changing towards issues of child protection - creates and supports already existing children friendly spaces - responds to emergencies in Somaliland, Puntland and South Central Somalia - uses monitoring and evaluation tools to ensure that services and programming for children who are survivors of abuse are appropriate, timely and that the guiding principles of case management are adhered to CESVI has an office in Mogadishu, but works throughout South Central Somalia and other regions. The Program Manager may be asked to occasionally move to other regions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The collaboration will start by the 1st of February 2013. The overall objective of this position is to implement child protection programs in South Central Somalia. S/he will not only implement this program, but will also provide key technical support on the area of response to CESVI's partners and community actors. S/he will know key child protection and GBV actors in Somalia, understand the child protection and GBV legal framework and identify gaps in child protection and GBV services. S/he will be dedicated to ending child abuse and violence against women and have direct experience in working with child survivors of GBV as well as a keen understanding of other child protection issues. S/he will be supported by experienced CESVI staff. Key responsibilities: - train and mentor child protection committees in psychosocial first aid, clinical management of rape, caring for child survivors and other response approaches - ensure the Child Protection/GBV SOPs are drafted, finalised, printed and distributed - attend Child Protection Working Group meetings and report pertinent information to the Regional Protection Technical Advisor - take part in the Child Protection Emergency response team and travel to emergencies and when necessary in Somaliland, Puntland and South-Central - create a team of community case manager volunteers - use his/her knowledge and background as a social worker to train and mentor social workers working with children - ensure accurate data collection, reporting and analysis from project activities - produce periodic official reports according to project deadlines and donor-related requests, to be submitted to the Regional Protection Technical Advisor and Project Manager for editing and final approval - supervise administration, accounting, procurement issues related to the project - carry-out any other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by the Regional Protection Technical Advisor
