CARE Somalia is an International NGO working in Somalia. CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal of reducing poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance.

Job Summary The WASH Advisor’s position will be based in Garowe with frequent field visits to WASH projects in Somalia. His/her role will be to provide technical support in both emergency WASH programs as well as WASH programs in CARE long term development programs ,through assessment, program design, management, capacity building and monitoring and evaluation. The WASH Advisor will provide both engineering and ‘soft ware’ support to CARE Somalia’s program.

Minimum qualification and professional experience

• Advanced university degree in Civil Engineering • Minimum of 8 years of progressively relevant professional working experience in WASH related activities. A t least 5 years of this experience should be with an international humanitarian organization, dealing with large scale emergencies • Ability to coordinate and work with local partner to achieve a common objective in the area of WASH • Must demonstrate clear understanding of the water and sanitation situation in Somalia • Must demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating WASH related trainings • Ability to manage complex and demanding WASH programs • Proficiency in computer software and statistical packages • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) • Knowledge of the local Somalia language is an added advantage
