Post by: Admin on April 21, 2011, 08:47:39 PM
In the Somali region of Puntland, Germany supports a project of the NGO World Vision with an amount of 372,000 Euro from the budget of the German Foreign Office. The funding will be used to provide basic health services and to improve access to water to people in need.

For the past months, Somalia has been suffering from a drought after rains at the end of 2010 failed. In supporting World Vision, Germany is helping the drought-stricken people of Somalia.

For many years, Germany has been providing substantial funding for Humanitarian and Emergency Aid. In 2010, measures worth approximately 9 million Euro were chanelled through various implementing agencies, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Care International, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
