Actually, to a certain extent, It has been with us since antiquity, ancient scholars where able to memorize entire books via the use of efficient visual mnemonic techniques (not the A,B,C,D,E,F,G, type) wich the modern school system has failed to incorporate in public education. But these where only primitive versions of the techniques available to us today.
