Job Description:
Schedule: Part time working in the on-call pool. No guarantee of hours. This is a non benefit eligible position. There is the possibility of securing hours each week, depending upon your availability.
Department: Translating & Interpreting
Location: Butterworth
Job Summary: Provides interpretation and translation services for LEP (Limited English Proficient), Deaf or Hard of Hearing Patients and their caregivers in accordance with Spectrum Health and Departmental policies and procedures.
Job Requirements: A minimum of one year of experience in providing interpreting services in a health care setting. Successful completion of a nationally recognized language proficiency assessment. Proficient written and verbal bi-lingual communication skills relative to health care settings.
Familiar with the National Council of Interpreters in Health Care (NCIHC) Code of Ethics governing the profession of interpreting, and the legal and regulatory parameters regarding provision of language access services in health care settings. Ability to use E-Mail and Badge Readers. Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Time management and organizational skills. Self directed, independently mobile, and ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem solving skills, ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes, and multiple interruptions.
