Title: Nursing In Finland
Post by: Kalkaaliye_Bsc on December 04, 2007, 02:24:13 AM
The nursing education in Finland
There are two types of nurses in finland
-polytechnic graduate nurse RN   3.5 years bsc    [In English / Finnish]
-Vocational school Practical  nurse ~3 years      [Only In Finnish]

To join a Bachelor in nursing programme there are two routes:
1.after secondary school
2.after Vocational collage ~3 years
3.Entrance Exam

To join a practical nurse programme:
-No need for secondary school certificate.
-Many join straight away, others through language preparation class.

Other Somalis in nursing Field:
In general there are many Somali nursing students in Finland although they are
studying in many different schools and the vast majority are doing the
vocational nurse programme [practical nurse].Taking into consideration the thousands of Somalis that stay here  Only a fraction of them study in polytechnic/ university.

Cost of studies in Finland:
As far as I remember from school days [december-2006] There was no  FEES to be paid to the school /university, that  may change in the future as there was some discussions in the parliament to charge foreign students some fees.

If anyone needs specific information regarding nursing education in finland I will be happy to answer.
