Its usually not recommended to use abbreveations since they can be confusing.
For example SVD can have multiple meanings : In Obstetrics is spontneous vaginal delivery and in radiology/elederly care it can mean small vessel disease on CT head.
but continue with the fun

Post by: PrincessMuni on July 30, 2008, 08:11:23 PM
Said bro, in here we are just memorising new abbreviations and remembering old ones.... plus if you see SVD in radiolody am sure you'll know its not Spontanous vaginal delivery! :o or you will ??
so where is the abbreviation game? I was away because of finals am back now.... lets start over

Post by: PrincessMuni on September 27, 2008, 03:34:17 PM
APGAR score is the first test given to the neonate in the first munite and after 5 munites, me myself did it alot and its fun. A baby who scores a 7 or above on the test at 1 minute after birth is generally considered in good health. However, a lower score doesn't necessarily mean that baby is unhealthy or abnormal. But it may mean that baby simply needs some special immediate care, such as suctioning of the airways or oxygen to help him or her breathe, after which baby may improve.
5 steps which are 1-activity and muscle tone 2-pulse (heart rate) 3-grimace response(reflex irritability) 4-appearnce(skin color) 5-respiration(depth n rate n effort)
