Job Title: Psychosocial Counselor
Location: Dadaab Dagahaley Mental Health Program
Job Description / Objective: Psychosocial Counselor to assess, intervene and conduct individual and group support for patients of the Mental Health Program and for the community of Dagahaley Refugee Camp.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and coordinate the counseling activities for the mental health program in Dagahaley camp.
Comprehensively assess, propose and develop appropriate interventions for the psychosocial component of the mental health programme.
Support and capacity building on the psychosocial issues of the community.
Conduct pre/post counseling for the patients of the Mental Health program and the local community.
To be actively involved in the follow-up counseling and to ensure adherence to counseling.
To provide support for home-based teams (e.g. palliative care)
To train and support lay & peer counselors
To ensure regular community awareness, education, and networking.
To prepare and compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, monitoring and evaluation of department activities, attending meetings)
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma in Psychological counseling from a recognized institution
Experience of 2 -5years providing support to individuals and groups.
Fluency in English, fluency in Somali would be an advantage.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work with multidisciplinary team and culturally sensitive to others
