Abdominal organs of a 63-year-old woman with leiomyosarcoma has been removed with a unique and brand-new type of surgery.
The organs removed during the 15-hour surgery were the stomach, pancreas, liver, spleen, small intestine and about two-thirds of the large intestine.
The surgery was done by a transplant surgeon, after the lady was told by other surgeons that her tumour is inoperable and has six months to live.
