Perfect teeth starts from infancy!!
« on: March 06, 2007, 11:03:42 PM »
The wellbeing of teeth starts in infancy. The American Dental Association reminds parents that children should visit the dentist within 6 months of getting their first tooth and no later than their first birthday (completing one year).
"We like to see the child by their first birthday so we can talk to parents about good oral hygiene practices and we also do see a certain number of children who have early decay in the mouth," Dr. Kimberly Harms.
New moms should know that babies' gums should be wiped with a damp cloth after every feeding; once a tooth erupts, it needs to be cleaned all the way around. "We have bacteria that build up in the mouth every 24 hours and we need to get rid of it," she said.
Good teeth through life needs a well care of the infant's teeth, needs educated family to do so, needs a check up every 1 year, need Tooth sealants. Tooth sealants, which are now routinely used to protect the chewing surfaces, have dramatically reduced the incidence of cavities in kids, Harms said. A sealant is a clear or tooth-colored plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth where decay occurs most often. Sealants protect normal depressions and grooves in the teeth which are particularly susceptible to tooth decay.
May be sealants are not cosmetically preferred or otherwise available in our country, but good caring after eating and before sleeping for infant's and children's teeth is always effective in preventing dental caries and cavities.
Thank you.
Ciise Dheere.

Well said. And please parents do not let your children sleep with the milk bottle in their mouth because it will decay their teeth.

Its a a fact that a healthy teeth starts so early as in fetal life when the tooth starts to form by: providing the mother with calcium rich diet
Proper prenatal care
Health teaching about the effect of florid and some drugs on the teeth development

A lot of mothers do not get access to a proper maternal care
Or due to ignorance she will be subjected to tetracycline during the pregnancy which affects the tooth germ while developing, resulting in a stained weak teeth
That is for deciduous teeth.
Permanent teeth will also be deformed if the chilled takes tetracycline
Bleaching is ineffective on patients with tetracycline stain in their tooth structure.
Tetracycline is used to treat severe inflammation of the lids or ocular surface
Most of ::) physicians know the effect of tetracycline but  >:( still some will do such mistake

thanks for the topic
