Singultus (Chronic Hiccup)

Can you explain how metoclopromide stop continues hiccup?! (Mechanism of Action)
I have seen a patient with Singultus for 4 years and was treated by giving metoclopromide tablets (only 15 tablets) this afternoon
and the pt suddenly stopped hiccuping (amazing response)!
