The First Middle East Asthma Conference In Kuwait.
« on: January 09, 2009, 01:12:03 AM »

Currently, asthma is a common health problem affecting more than 300 million people worldwide. The incidence and prevalence of asthma have been noted to increase over the past few decades. There is also upward trend in asthma mortality with annual deaths of 250,000. The increase in mortality & morbidity of asthma is unlike other chronic disease where mortality & morbidity is declining. Uncontrolled asthma is the main cause of absence from school and work and it has high economic cost. Large part of this problem can be eliminated by proper understanding of asthma by health care providers. In order to accomplish that, we have organized for the first of its kind asthma conference in the Middle East.

The Conference Goal & Objectives:

The major goal of the conference is to increase the awareness of asthma healthcare workers, in order to improve the asthmatic patients’ care process; the goal of which shall promote research ideas in the field, to satisfy the following objectives:
Understand the magnitude of asthma burden and cost
Understand the pathophysiology of asthma for better asthma management
Clarify the relationship between asthma and allergic diseases
Clarify the relationship between asthma and obesity/pregnancy/obstructive sleep apnea
Familiarize audiences with Asthma and the environment
View the Pediatric asthma
Describe the new diagnostic modalities in asthma
Familiarize audiences with phenotypes of asthma
