Title: Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) Consultancy

Qualified candidates are invited to apply for a consultancy position for the development of an Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) guideline for Somali.

Purpose of the Post:

The successful candidate will provide technical guidance and lead the development process of the IMAM guideline and field guide for health and nutrition workers for Somalia. He/she will develop IMAM Field guide, training material and facilitate IMAM guideline consensus and endorsement by the Nutrition stakeholders and line ministries in Somalia.

The IMAM guideline development will be undertaken in a multi-sectoral approach under the auspices of the nutrition cluster.

The consultant will report administratively to UNICEF with the Nutrition Cluster Coordinator or the UNICEF Somalia Nutrition Project Manager being the first supervisor, while his/her work will be technically approved by the Nutrition Cluster/ Working Group Core Group.

Main tasks and responsibilities are to:

Undertake wide consultation with the Nutrition and related clusters/ sectors’ stakeholders in building a consensus in the IMAM guideline components.
Review the various nutrition projects/ programmes’ guidelines and protocols/ field guides and identify the best practices for adoption in Somalia humanitarian context.
Provide technical leadership in the development of the national IMAM guidelines and IMAM Field Guide for Health and Nutrition Workers in Somalia.
Based on the IMAM guidelines, develop training materials/package and job aids necessary for IMAM guideline and Field guide/protocol implementation.

Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) Guideline for Somalia
IMAM Field Guide for the health and nutrition workers in the health and nutrition programme facilities
Training Package for the IMAM guidelines including presentation, handouts, case studies, role play, field scenarios and experiences sharing, resource list

Qualifications, experience & Skills

Advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related technical field.
At least 5 - 8 years of professional experience in the field of emergency nutrition.
Knowledge on the latest Nutrition in Emergency and experience in integrated response implementation desired. Hands-on experience in emergency response implementation desired
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Aware of the latest developments in the area of nutrition and assessment methodologies.
Knowledge of Somalia operational context and readiness to travel to Somalia
Fluency in English, with excellent writing skills.
