PROJECT COORDINATOR

Closing date: 27 December 2010
Location: Ethiopia – Somali Region

CCM (Comitato Collaborazione Medica) is an Italian NGO operating in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, South Sudan, Somalia and implementing a variety of health-related projects.

CCM has just been granted a EU three-year project, focused on strengthening reproductive health care services for refugees and local communities in Somali Region – Ethiopia, and it is looking for a Project Coordinator to be based in Filtu (Liben Zone – Somali Region). The project foresees a close and active collaboration between CCM and its partners, the Somali Region Health Departments, UNHCR and ARRA (Administration for Refugees and Returnees Affairs).

Contract duration: one year (possible extension)
Start date: January 2011

Job description
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the intervention, in all its technical political and managerial components.
S/he ensures the proper application of the organization and donor policies and guidelines in terms of visibility, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
In collaboration with the Country Representative, s/he is in charge of the selection and recruitment of the local staff.
Moreover, s/he is responsible for:
 the management of human resources appointed to the project;
 the management of the project budget, including cash flow, monthly fund requests, budget amendments, and financial report;
 the project procurement, following the organization and donor guidelines.

The Project Coordinator is reporting to the Country Representative.

Requirements
 Post-graduate degree in relevant field (e.g. public health, reproductive health, social science, gender based violence) or substantial equivalent experience;
  8 year of relevant work experience, of which at least 5 in managing complex health programs in a humanitarian context;
 Proven high level skills in program coordination, management and supervision;
 Strong administration skills with proven experience in budget management and accounting;
 Previous experience and understanding of Somali context is advisable;
 Previous experience with refugees is an asset;
 Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
 Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team;
 Proven leadership, problem solving and organizational skills with flexibility and patience;
 Ability to work under stressful conditions in isolated areas;
 Familiarity with EU regulations and policy is an asset;
 Fluency of both written and spoken English
 Italian language is an asset;
 Confident and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
