Medical Doctor (Paediatrician) Telemedicine - MSF Operational Centre Brussels (OCB) Somalia Mission

MSF-OCB is seeking a candidate for the post of: Medical Doctor - Paediatrician for its humanitarian operations inside Somalia.

MSF OCB Somalia has an 80 bed capacity hospital in Guriel district of Galgaduud region in Somalia, and in order to ensure continued provision of quality care to its patients.

Since 2011, MSFOCB is exploring into telemedicine as a way of further follow up operations / consultations across the border in order to support the existing medical personnel, and this position will be supporting the current telemedicine operations ongoing.

The post profile as follows:

Position Title: Medical Doctor (Paediatrician) ? Telemedicine

Main tasks:

The incumbent will provide support via telemedicine, from Nairobi, to the team of medical personnel in the field with close collaboration of the Medical Coordinator of Somalia program.

This support will be through:

# Daily ward round via telemedicine (Audio Soft tool) on selected complicated paediatric cases in which the field doctors need support and discussion forums on particular cases.
# Conduct training for the field doctors on specific topics where refreshment is needed.
Duty station: Nairobi, with visit to the field if/when required.

Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension on a part time basis.

Qualification & Specialisation required: MD, specialised in Paediatrics

Required skills, attributes and experience:

# Prior experience in clinical practice as Paediatrician. MSF experience is advantageous.
# Experience in telemedicine will be an advantage.
# Knowledge of Somali language (written and spoken).
# Willingness to learn and introduce innovative telemedicine tools.
# Willing to take on challenges associated with new ways of working.
# Flexibility, dynamism and patience.

Applicants are required to have/obtain a valid passport and be prepared to visit Somalia.
