PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide strategic and technical leadership of ENGINE nutrition programming, including the effective development and implementation of quality Nutrition and HIV/AIDS programs based on best practice in response to the major HIV/AIDS burdens affecting targeted communities. Additionally, contribute to the expansion of World Vision’s organizational impact and HIV/AIDS sector profile and influence on practice and policy through associated HIV/AIDS related activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide overall strategic technical guidance to ENGINE HIV/AIDS and nutrition activities.
Participate in national nutrition and HIV/AIDS policy forums and support to development of quality nutrition-related higher education.
Work closely with the monitoring and evaluation/research advisor to ensure quality monitoring of appropriate indicators and the design of monitoring and evaluation activities.
Guide the implementation of ENGINE nutrition and HIV/AIDS framework by providing strategic and technical advice to managers, nutrition program staff and partners in district Area Projects and Ministry of Health.
Carry out capacity building and on-the-job mentoring as needed to strengthen the technical skills and capacity of ENGINE staff in nutrition and HIV/AIDS related issues.
Develop approaches for strengthening the HIV/AIDS technical capacity of local implementing partners, including mentoring HIV/AIDS and nutrition specialists in the local offices where the projects are implemented.
Provide knowledge and demonstrated expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support including nutrition and HIV/AIDS.
Compile and submit regular donor reports; monitor quarterly activities and expenditures against work plan and budget; and lead development of program plans, tools, and activities all being in compliance with USAID requirements.
Lead in the HIV/AIDS assessment, design, planning, ongoing implementation and monitoring of HIV/AIDS and nutrition programs.
Commission and undertake regular technical review visits to projects.
Coordinate nutrition and HIV/AIDS programs with other ENGINE programs, in collaboration with technical advisors, to identify synergies and possibilities for integration of activities.
Technically approve program proposal, reports specialist ToRs, evaluation and survey methodologies.
Recruit and select nutrition and HIV/AIDS specialist personnel in collaboration with the HR Department/ P & C Division.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required:
Msc in Human Nutrition or closely related fields with experience working in HIV/AIDS or MPH or M.D. with experience working in both HIV/AIDS and nutrition.
At least ten years of experience in each of the following areas:
National level policy advocacy Providing nutrition and HIV/AIDS technical leadership/support to a Ministry of Health.
Proven expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention, and care and support, including nutrition and HIV/AIDS.
Developing and managing HIV/AIDS and nutrition programs in developing countries.
Working in development of educational materials
