Anaesthetist Clinical Officer

Based in Dagahaley Refugee Camp
 
Project Summary:
 
MSF Switzerland (MSFCH) is a humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need.

At present, MSFCH operates in three programmes locations in Kenya, Somalia and Sudan.
 
The selected candidate will be reporting technically Hospital Director/Medical Doctors and hierarchically to the Hospital Director.
 
Location: Dagahaley Refugee Camp, Dadabb
 
Start date: January 15th, 2013
 
Type of contract: Fix Term Contract for 12 months with possible extension based on performance.
 
Main Tasks (but not limited to):
Ensure and organise anaesthetic medical activities for patients in accordance with hygiene standards, MSF and field anaesthesia guideline
Able to cope with safety of all types of anaesthesia and specifically to be excellent in spinal anaesthesia
Participating to the organisation of the ER, OT, recovery room and intensive care unit in collaboration with ward team supervisor and doctors
Checking and organising the good follow up of anaesthetic activities along the “path” of the patient: pre/per/post operative period
Requirements:
Validated Diploma in anaesthesia recognized by the state
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a busy surgical centre under supervision of an anaesthesiologist
Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Knowledge of Somali is an asset.
Personal qualities:
Good team management skills, maturity, good organization, rigorously, ability to analyse and synthesize
Ability to listen, diplomatic, problem solving and communication skills
Flexibility, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
