CCM (Comitato Collaborazione Medica) is an Italian medical NGO, operating in Kenya, South Sudan and Somalia/land, running a variety of health-related projects.

Location: Somalia - Puntland

CCM – Italy is recruiting a Project Coordinator for a 1-year intervention in support of Garowe and Gardo Hospitals in Puntland, Somalia.

The overall aim of the project is to support the delivery of basic Hospital services, according to the defined Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS), providing financial inputs for the payment of incentives, purchase of drugs and hospital running costs.

The improvement of human resources and supplies management though the setup of functional Health Management Committee is a crucial component of the intervention. The project is funded by UNOPS

Responsibilities of the position:

The Project Coordinator will be overall responsible for the implementation, results and financial accountability of the project.

More in detail the Project Coordinator will be responsible of the following:
• Day-to–day management and follow-up of project activities
• Day-to-day supervision and follow-up of hospital Health serivices
• Day-to-day interaction with local and hospital Health authorities
• Technical review of hospital staff, definition of qualification and technical capacities, staff allocation to departments and services, elaboration of detailed Job Descriptions
• Support to the setup of a cost recovery system for drugs and consumables
• Facilitation of the organization of a functional Hospital Management committee inclusive of key representatives of the community
• Participation to coordination and management meetings organized at Hospital and Ministerial level
• In collaboration with HIS focal points, collection, consolidation and analysis of data on Hospital services and Hospital performance
• Elaboration on monthly and quarterly project progress reports
• Management and accountability of project funds

The Project Coordinator will directly report to the Somalia Country Coordinator.

Qualification:

CCM is looking for a qualified Medical Doctor with working experience in Hospitals, both from the clinical and the managerial point of view.
The position requires great capacity of collaboration and negotiation with Somali counterparts at Ministerial and Hospital level. In this respect the knowledge of the Somali language represent a clear advantage. Experience in project administration is also required.
Good capacity to write writing official documents (reports) in English and to give them proper and clean editing.
The particular volatile situation prevailing in Somalia requires the employment of a Health professional with previous working experience in the country.

Duty station

The position in based in Garowe, capital of the autonomous region of Puntland. Frequent travel (at least on a monthly basis) to the town of Gardo is required.
