To support its humanitarian operations in Somalia
MSF Switzerland (MSFCH) is a humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need. At present, MSFCH operates in four project locations in Somalia: Belet Weyne, Dinsor, Hawa Abdi, and Afgoi.
Location: Nairobi and visits to Somalia
Start date: April 2010
Type of contract: 12 months Fixed Term Contract
Scope of responsibilities:
•Detailed analysis and reporting of the Somali context
•Advise on the management and development of MSFCH activities in Somalia
•Following issues concerning Somalia in the media (local news, internet, radio)
•Representing MSF at various meetings both in Nairobi and in Somalia
•Briefing of regional and international staff about the Somali context and culture
•Visits to the field projects to discuss context issues with the field teams
•Translation of documents as and when required
•Security adviser to the different departments within the coordination team
•Maintain and elaborate further strong network of contacts
Recruitment criteria:
•Previous MSF or NGO experience in a management position
•Strong familiarity with the Somali context
•Fluent written and spoken English and Somali
•Computer literate
•Valid passport

•Organization skills
•Should be proactive and show initiative
•Good communication skills
•Rigor and Flexibility
•Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
