Title: Muslim Aid expands and runs a TB Hospital in Badhan District

Muslim Aid has been working in Somaliland since early of 2008. It carried out a rapid assessment on health facility needs of Sanaag region.

The areas that Muslim Aid supports are developing the health provider institutions such as MCHs and Hospitals in Somaliland, training health professionals such as nurses, and raising awareness of fighting diseases.

Consequently, Muslim Aid expanded and rehabilitated the TB Hospital of Badhan district. The hospital was not functioning for the last years.

The opening ceremony of the hostpital was attended by the officials of the district, elders and some of the staff of Muslim Aid.

The managing director of the hospital Dr.Essa Ali Maah has opened the ceremony and told the audiances that they are welcoming the valuable support of Muslim Aid. He also added that they will have a close collaboration with Muslim Aid and finally thanked them.

Mr Sadik Mohamud Gahair, the programme coordinator of Muslim Aid in Somaliland was one of the guests who spoke in the ceremony and told that they are helping the people of Somaliland in order to maintain good health. “Muslim Aid is committed to help the people in order to help themselves”. He said.

Mr Sadik emphasized the importances of this health center and told that they will have a strong ties with this hospital because its service is worth funding.

Wold Health Organization (WHO) treats 4000 individuals from TB disease through the regions of Somaliland in each year and most of them are from this region.
