Location: Somalia

Role and Responsibilities
To design and manage the strategy, implementation, development and evaluation of health, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, and Emergency Response programmes in Somalia. To represent Medair for all issues related to the Somalia Programme.

Project Overview
To deliver multi-sectoral relief in Middle Shabelle Region, Central Somalia - currently due to security restrictions through remote support to a partner. To deliver multi-sectoral relief in Somaliland and to support partner(s) from there. To address additional critical needs as capacity of Medair programme grows.

Workplace: Nairobi, Kenya, South Central Somalia and Somaliland

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Contract Details: 2 years, 100%

Qualifications
•University degree and relevant professional experience

Experience / Competencies
•2 years of experience in senior management position
•3 year of overseas experience in insecure environments
•5 years management experience in relief & rehabilitation projects desirable
•Proven conflict management skills, very good educational & coaching skills
•Excellent negotiation skills, especially in the context of the Somali culture
•Experiencing in dealing with donors, government officials, NGOs and local partner desirable

Medair standard working requirements for the field
•Committed to Medair values
•At least one year of professional experience in a relevant field (more experience preferred)
•Minimum 3 months inter-cultural overseas experience
•Willing to commit to Medair for a minimum of one year
•Single, or married (without dependent children)
•Aged 25 - 55 generally preferred
•Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
•Familiar with Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
•Able to live and work with a multicultural team under difficult conditions
•Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit
•Successful completion of Medair Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)
