Location: Somalia - Burao
Location: Based in Burao, Togdheer region, Somaliland with field visits to Cadale project, South Central Somalia (security allowing)
Responsibilities
To manage both the nutrition programme in partnership with SAACID and another programme in partnership with a local NGO. To provide technical support to national medical staff for the implementation of high-quality care in all projects. To manage the necessary drugs and equipment for both projects, ensuring availability and appropriate usage. To anticipate, plan, and share in the development of new health project proposals in collaboration with SAACID and other partners.
Programme / Project Overview
Health, nutrition, WatSan and hygiene/health education programme in Cadale District including rehabilitation of existing Medical Centre and rural health posts. Health (education, EPI and TBAs), nutrition (CTC programme), sanitation and hygiene education programme in Burao, Togdheer region, Somaliland. Potential projects include Emergency Response within Middle Shabelle and surrounding region and/or expansion of initial programmes into rural areas with critical needs and no NGO coverage.
Qualifications
- Nutritionist BSc
Experience
- At least 1 year's experience working as a Nutritionist
- Flexible, able to work and live in basic living conditions in a changing environment
- Personal awareness of own stress indicators
Medair standard working requirements for the field
- Minimum 12 months professional experience in a relevant field
- Strong adherence to Medair values
- Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
- Familiar with Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Able to live and work with a multicultural team under difficult conditions
- Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty
- Single or married - without children, no dependent children
- Successful completion of Medair's Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)
