PUSH was created by a group of students in hopes of shedding light on the health care crisis which resulted from political collapse and poverty that has plagued Somalia for more than a decade.
PUSH has neither political, regional, nor tribal affiliation within or outside of Somalia.
Aid from PUSH or its members is to be distributed equally to all Somalis.
PUSH’s goal is to provide essential health care, medical supplies including medications and sterile equipment, and to improve the quality of healthcare for all the people of Somalia.
PUSH intends to reach these goals with the help of philanthropists, charitable organizations as well as Somali communities world-wide. It is our aim to encourage everyone to take part in rebuilding Somalia by helping with efforts to provide what is needed to reach these goals.
Though a formidable task, PUSH has extremely high hopes that the citizens of the world will not watch Somali children, women, men, and elderly suffer from lack of healthcare, or more appropriately, lack of care.
Push's Mission is: Locally:- To increase awareness of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality in the Somali community (i.e. diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and heart disease) and, through health education, promote preventative as well as maintenance measures.
- To promote a healthy lifestyle and, through education, remove the stigma of such illnesses as tuberculosis, cancer, and HIV/AIDS in order to encourage screening.
Abroad:- To address health issues in Somalia by providing medical care as well as needed medical supplies.
- To increase awareness of Somalia's lack of healthcare system and encourage more humanitarian support.
- To encourage all Somalis to become involved in rebuilding Somalia's healthcare system.
