The rehabilitation project in Dadaab aims to provide and secure tangible and measurable improvement of independency in activities of daily living and quality of life of refugees living with physical impairment or disability.
The Position
The ?Mid-level Therapist and Rehabilitation Trainer? empowers incentive refugees involved in the physical therapy (mid-level therapists and partly CBR workers) and implements related ?task cards? (activities) captured in the Project Implementation & Monitoring Tool (PIMT).
S/he will be responsible for
Empowering and mentoring 12 incentive refugees mid-level therapists and 3 physical rehabilitation supervisors to deliver and follow up quality physical rehabilitation therapy services.
Develop TOR, curriculum, training material and monitoring tool for mid-level therapists in different areas of rehabilitation
Contributing to the capacity building and sensitization of all incentive refugees, community based rehabilitation committees and community leaders in the field of disability and rehabilitation.
Enhancing/strengthening/ensuring the autonomy of daily management of the disability centers and the provision of quality rehabilitation services
Capitalization and Documentation
In coordination with the Rehabilitation Technical Coordinator in Nairobi, ensure sustained liaison with physical rehabilitation stakeholders and services providers of interest, while maintaining close links with the Ministry of Health (Physiotherapy and occupational therapist chief) regarding the issues of physiotherapy occupational therapy and physical rehabilitation in the camps of Dadaab and in Kenya.
Compile and analyze lessons learned during the project and develop capitalization document on delivery of rehabilitation services to people with disability living in refugee context.
Qualifications and skills required:
Education
Bachelor (Masters being preferred) in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
Experience
5 years clinical experience in physical rehab department
Experience in training, transferring skills and knowledge and mentoring rehabilitation practices.
Up to date knowledge in disabling conditions management.
