Vacancy: Health Project Manager - Medair (Burao/Somalia)

Location: Somalia - Burao

Additional location information: Burao, Togdheer region, Somaliland, with field visits to Cadale project, South Central Somalia

Project Overview

Health, nutrition, WatSan and hygiene/health education programme in Cadale District including rehabilitation of existing Medical Centre and rural health posts. Health, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene education programme in Burao, Togdheer region, Somaliland. Potential projects include Emergency response within Middle Shabelle and surrounding region and/or expansion of initial programmes into rural areas with critical needs and no NGO coverage.

Responsibilities

To manage the Cadale health programme in partnership with SAACID. To manage the health programme in Burao in partnership with a local NGO. To provide technical support to national medical staff for the implementation of high-quality care in all projects. To manage the necessary drugs and equipment for both projects. To anticipate, plan, and share in the development of new health project proposals in collaboration with SAACID and other partners.

Qualifications

- Medical Doctor or registered general nurse
- Midwifery, Tropical Disease or Community Health Certification, Nutritional Expertise or Trauma Training desirable

Experience

- 5 years clinical experience
- Experience in setting up and implementing primary health care

Medair standard working requirements for the field

- Minimum 12 months professional experience in a relevant field
- Minimum 3 months overseas work experience
- Strong adherence to Medair values
- Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty
